This page is about Kavien’s participation in two Charity Sport events in Amsterdam, viz. the Dam tot Damloop Run for War Child on 2016, Sept. 18, and the Marathon for VluchtelingenWerk which took place on 2017, Oct. 15. Both charities were close to Kavien’s heart, as he aimed making contributions to world peace and justice on as many occasions as possible.
The photo shows Kavien just having completed the Marathon. This photo is proudly presented by VluchtelingenWerk, on the
website of VluchtelingenWerk

pdf document entitled
“Kavien (22): A helping hand makes a world of difference”.
His heartrate had reached a maximum of 168 beats per minutes at an average of 129 BPM.
The charity action was very successfull: Kavien had raised €910.00, that is, 91% of the target amount of €1000,
which came from 20 donations.
One the website of VW, all the encouraging messages from his sponsors can be read, together with the gifts.
We include the messages here (source: www.actievoorvluchtelingenwerk.nl, translated from Dutch):
Lars: Growing up as a youthful LGBT in the wrong place, where I couldn’t be myself for a long time, so I know what it feels like if you are not accepted by religion, sexuality or race. Anonymous: Good initiative! Good luck today! Carel: I like to support Vluchtelingenwerk. I think it’s very good that young people like Kavien are committed. Anonymous: Kavien, what a great initiative! Thank you for your efforts and good luck with the marathon on October 15! Jet: Walk the half myself, have walked the whole before. Quite a challenge. But the challenge for Refugees is even greater, so that needs to be supported. Kavien combines well! Paulien: Kavien's story touched me, how he ended up in our country as a child, on Ameland and now walks for other refugees! Good luck Kavien! Anonymous: Put it on Kavien! Glad you’re doing this. Eva: goodluck dear kavin, we are super proud of yo. Daniel: Leegoooooo Kavien. Will: Because I have refugees living next door who helped me again today with problems with the internet/tv and ziggo signal. They don’t want anything in return. So this email came just in time! Good luck with the marathon I will be thinking of you. Anonymous: I admire Kavien’s words and actions! Great! Good luck Kavien! Marijke: I have a warm heart for refugee work. I sympathize with all those refugees who have ended up here and hope that they can build a good life in our country. Paula: Because that's how I want to live life, just like Kavien. ’Not separately but together’, being fellow human beings. Taking care of each other.
